TDE RELEASE RE-RE-SET!

TDE's world premiere has been pushed back yet again.  Again.  It is now set for Summer, 2009 (note the lack of the word tentatively).  We won't bore you with the details, tearful excuses and dog-eaten homework.

"We've been here before, and we all know the drill.  I share everyone's frustration, believe me.  Nobody has more invested, and therefore more to gain - and more to lose - than I do.  This film will be completed and it will be seen.  Theaters remain committed to screen it.  Groups still want to discuss it.  However, we do not, at this point, have a product that I feel is worthy of our story and the amazing performances of the actors and crew that went into telling it.  But I can say, I am very confident that TDE will be seen in 2009.  And it will be well worth the wait." - TDE's creative director Joe Fremont.

Contrary to the popular scuttle (we Googled), Fremont bears no relation to a gentlemen named Godot...

TDE RELEASE RE-SET!

TDE's world premiere presentation has been pushed back yet again.  It is now tentatively set for Fall / Winter.  This latest delay is mostly due to factors beyond our control, though we most certainly are no fans of post-production.  And while we cannot say for certain  when the premiere will be, one thing we can say with 100% certainty is that this film will be seen.  So thanks to all for your hanging in there with us.

12/10/2007:

TDE RELEASE SET!

TDE's world premiere presentation has now been tentatively (there's that word again) scheduled for mid-Spring / early Summer 2008.  All questions will be answered on the soon-to-be-unveiled "OFFICIAL TDE FAQ".

6/10/2007:

WORLD PREMIERE CLIP!

TDE is proud to release the first official scene clip from the upcoming film.  Presented here is our brand new World Premiere clip.  Compiled of footage from TDE's climactic final day of shooting, this clip offers a unique portal into the developing bond between two of TDE's most revered characters.  Think: "Getting To Know You", circa 2007.

6/3/2007:

The OFFICIAL TDE MEDIA GALLERY overhaul is almost complete.  TDE's first clip in some time will be premiering this week.  Look for that and much, much more as TDE marches toward its December premiere.

5/15/2007:

TDE ENTERS POST-PRODUCTION

TDE moves from "WRAP" to "POST" this week as the project aims to meet a Christmas premiere.  That means countless hours of pouring over footage, matching and choosing the best takes, adding sound, mixing in some AfterEffects magic and basically assembling the film, soup to nuts.

Does that also mean the site will go to sleep again - just when things were getting interesting?

In a word - Hell, No!  Look for TDE's website to enter a new era of excitement as the TDE Media Gallery becomes the most happening place to view footage this side of YouTube (Ok - that's a bit much, but we're hyped!).  Clips and photos will be posted, the "Friends of TDE" page will be augmented, and the new "TDE FAQ" page will be unveiled.

In other words, TDE's website will become the most active it has ever been since its inception some 4 1/2 years ago.  Look for the TDE Media Gallery to become the place to be during June and July!!!

5/14/2007:

TDE WRAPS PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY

...and so it came to pass that 4 martial artists with wills of iron and hearts forged of gold and 2 actors with limitless talent and immeasurable dedication overcame the elements, 18 hour days, months of rehearsals, and so much more to bring production on "Through Different Eyes" to a soaring, fitting conclusion.

Pictured above, Debra Jans ("Kristy Bosch"), Joseph Schommer ("Carey Albert"), the final slate, and TDE's lone production camera.

5/13/2007:

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE ARE WRAPPED!!!!

TDE accomplished what some (including most of us) never thought possible: THE COMPLETION OF PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY!  Over a weekend that was for some a microcosm of the entire project, TDE's heroic cast and crew fought off the elements, fatigue, raw emotion and a plethora of obstacles to complete principal photography on the project whose website is 4 months away from it's 5th birthday.

TDE stars Debra Jans and Joseph Schommer turned in some of their most brilliant work over the grueling 64 hour ordeal that consisted of night shoots, 16 hour work days, rain and cold temperatures; digging deep to somehow maintain their energy and focus.  TDE "bad guys" Dan Luckingham, Andrew Zadany, Seth Michalek and R.J. Botticello performed spectacularly well over 2 nights as shooting started at sunset and went to dawn.

TDE Chief Joe Fremont offered the following: "There has never been a group of actors and crew that have been more dedicated, worked harder, put up with more "stuff" and triumphed over more adversity than this group, certainly on any project with which I've ever been associated.  This group performed way beyond the pale.  I'm awed by their dedication, humbled by their character, and touched by their devotion to their characters and this project.  I don't think, for the rest of my life, that I'll ever be more deeply emotionally affected by the completion of a project.   There are no words to express how deeply I feel for this group."

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is that.

5/12/2007:

The Martial Artists Are Wrapped!

TDE Producer Stephen "Lucky" Luckingham joins TDE stars Joseph Schommer and Debra Jans, TDE's ninja boom op Josh Slep, and TDE's "bad guys" for a photo-op after wrap.

Pictured left to right: Lucky, Dan Luckingham, Josh, Joe, Andrew Zadany, R.J. Botticello, Seth Michalek, and Debra.

4/28/2007:

TDE WRAPS THE NEW MILFORD HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER!

TDE fulfilled a 4 year dream this weekend, finishing up a 5 week stay at The New Milford Health and Rehabilitation Center to wrap interior Principal Photography.  You'll forgive TDE Head Honcho Joe Fremont for being a tad misty - "Looking back a year - I'd never have believed we'd get a single page of any of the hospital scenes.  Now here we are having wrapped the entire package and I must say it's quite emotional.  It's been that "unbeatable foe" for so long, and now here we are - wrapped.  It's indescribable.  Thanks seem woefully inadequate to express how truly indebted this project is to all those that gave so much to make this happen.  All I can do is to honor their efforts and generosity by giving everything I have to make TDE the best possible film it can be.  Something that will make everyone that has supported us proud."  Yeah, well that's all well and good but check back soon as TDE gives proper props to all those that have made The NEW MILFORD HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER the longest and most stunningly successful location shoot in TDE history.

NEXT UP?

What's next?  TDE goes back into rehearsals while prepping the project's final and most ambitious shoot yet.  Crane shots up.  Steadicam walk and talks.  A cataclysmic love story and a midnight rumble are but some of the dynamics that has the entire TDE universe all a-twitter.  Rest assured TDE faithful - this project will be wrap principal photography In Style!

TDE STORMS TRIBECA

As if we didn't have enough going on, TDE will be present at the Tribeca Film Festival this coming week.  No - we're not screening our own project - we don't quite edit that fast (just ask any of The Players!).  We will be there supporting our Indie film-making brethren, proving that, yes, we do understand that there are other Indie filmmakers out there besides us.

WITHER A TDE FAQ?

In response to significant popular demand, TDE will be rolling out an exciting new section of the TDE website next month - The Official TDE FAQ.  All of your questions and more will be resolved as our project moves to the next level.

4/21/2007:

TDE WRAPS THE SECOND FLOOR, STARTS ON THE LOBBY!

15 hour days are not uncommon in the film business and TDE is certainly no exception.  Work continued this past weekend as cast & crew were called to set at 10:30AM and were wrapped at 2:00.  AM!  So - what does one get for all that time at work?  In this particular case, roughly 4 pages of dialog, or 5 minutes of screen time.

The good news - TDE wrapped it's hallway requirements and looks to complete hospital location photography this coming weekend.  "What a phenomenal location.  From the nurses to the hospital staff to the actual patients themselves, we've had nothing but good will.  We satisfied every requirement on our shot list - dollies, still locations, you name it.  Unbelievable.  It's that special, unique situation where positive energy breeds positive energy.  And we had it in spades!"  TDE researchers might encounter some difficulty  trying to discern the link between Texas Hold 'Em and film production, but we'll choose to translate that as sending out TDE's most heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for putting up with us and helping to make this project the success we all know it can be!

4/14/2007:

TDE ON LOCATION... AND IN PREP TO WRAP PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY!!!

As shooting continued this past weekend at The New Milford Health & Rehabilitation Center, TDE's Production staff was deep in prep planning the project's final location shoot.

TDE LOOKING FOR DECEMBER RELEASE:  TDE currently plans to wrap principal photography over a climactic three day weekend in May - May 11-13.  2007.  We'd tell you more, but we'd... aw you know the drill.  Bottom line: rehearsals have been ongoing over the past month, scheduling has been planned down to the hour as TDE looks to go out with a flourish.  With a little cooperation from "The Powers That Be" this version of "Through Different Eyes" will be in final cut in time for Christmas.  Check your stockings for the DVD!

ROLLING:  TDE's ambitious one month stay at The New Milford Health & Rehabilitation Center has proven to be its most successful location shoot to date.  Brilliant performances by TDE principals Joseph Schommer ("Carey") and Debra Jans ("Kristy") have been augmented by terrific work from New Milford Rehab's own Genie English (superbly stepping into the role of "Karine", Kristy's mom), new TDE crew member Josh Slep (sound engineer / boom op), TDE veteran Ryan Gearity (First AC, and anything else you can think of), as well as the entire staff of the Rehab Center.  They have performed the difficult task of enabling TDE to get the coverage it needs, while at the same time ensuring that New Milford's usual standard of excellence in health care remains unaffected.  "I can honestly say without fear of overstating, that this could not have gone better - I've accomplished everything I'd dreamed with little or no effect to the environment around us.  I've never worked with a location staff more generous and caring - my heartfelt thanks go out to Genie English, Mary McCrain, Robert Allison, and Betsy Clark at The New Milford Health & Rehabilitation Center, as well as Nina Mack, Keli Solomon, and Susan Heckel ("Orderly #2") of The New Milford Film Commission.  They have served this film and their own company's interests spectacularly well!"

JAMES LIU returns to set:  Producer James Liu, TDE's longest standing member of the production staff, triumphantly returns to the TDE set this coming weekend, April 21, 2007.  Forced to scale back his involvement with the project some time ago due to other commitments, Jim has recently renewed his association with TDE.  His appearance here marks his first time on set in over 2 1/2 years.  "I've never stopped believing in the project and am very excited to rejoin the group.  I've monitored it over the past few years and am very, very proud to be associated with TDE.  I am not surprised by any of the success this project has achieved."  Executive Producer Joe Fremont responded, "I couldn't be happier to have Jim rejoin us for this critical, final stretch.  He was instrumental in every part of the inception of this project, from the creation of the script to the first call of 'Action'.  It's only fitting that Jim reconnect with us before we wrap."  All we need now is a sickeningly sentimental group hug, and we'll be all set.

2/25/2007:

TDE WEBSITE NEWS WRITER RESIGNS.    SHOOTING RESUMES FOR THE HOME STRETCH!!

After almost two years without a single news item, the Official TDE News Writer has resigned.  "I don't think I'm that demanding..." declared TDE Head Honcho Joe Fremont in announcing the change.  "But one story a year is not too much to ask for, is it?"  TDE followers may now look forward to at least one news item per year.

More importantly, TDE is back with a vengeance.  Yes, the little project that could, IS.  Three weeks into prep for TDE's cataclysmic fight scene - currently in prep at Manchester, Connecticut's world renowned Ju Nan Shin Dojo - TDE, thanks to the miraculous efforts of Producer "Lucky" Luckingham, the New Milford Film Commission and Managing Director Bob Allison, has landed it's biggest location get yet - The New Milford Health & Rehabilitation Center.  This spectacular facility, currently serving as one of Connecticut's leaders in the burgeoning field of physical medicine and rehabilitation will serve as the fictional hospital where some of the film's most dramatic, hilarious, and heartwarming scenes take place.  TDE fans are directed to the "Friends of TDE" page which will feature more information on this "Center of Excellence" in the very near future!!

6/27/2005:

KATE MEOLA LEAVES THE ROLE OF KRISTY DUE TO ILLNESS

TDE deeply regrets to announce that Kate Meola is unable to continue in the the role of Kristy due to illness.  "I can't tell you how disappointed I am that Kate is unable to carry on.  She's truly a special person and would have been absolutely terrific here.  But life intervenes sometimes and Kate really needs to devote her time to getting well again.  And while things may not be working out as we would have preferred here, we all consider Kate a vital part of the TDE family and are looking forward to working with her in whatever capacity she can as she recuperates.  If there's one person on the planet that will persevere over this it's her."  We will post more news as it develops.  In the meantime, GET WELL SOON, KATE!

DEB JANS JOINS THE CAST

While we never really liked the saying "The Show Must Go On" it does apply here.  And in that regard we are truly fortunate to be able to bring Deb Jans to the role of Kristy Bosch.  "Deb has stepped into a real difficult situation here - she has very little time to prepare to shoot a quite complicated character.  And yet I can honestly say after our first round of rehearsals that I have no doubt Kristy will be well served.  Deb is an incredibly gifted, generous and dedicated actor who will do what it takes to "get" the character.  Check "The Players" soon to read more about TDE's newest "shooting star".

6/27/2005:

TDE RETURNS TO ACTION AFTER WINTER HIATUS

TDE's back with a vengeance after taking the Winter off.  For those wondering why on earth we'd shoot a movie set in the Winter during the Summer, we offer three words - it's too cold!

Now that that's out of the way - TDE has kicked off a flurry of activity as we roll towards completing principal photography.  We've locked 5 locations and are deep in negotiations for 2 more as we look to return to production in the next two weeks.

2/22/2005:

THE NEW AND IMPROVED OFFICIAL TDE MEDIA GALLERY DEBUTS

TDE is really, really proud to announce the opening of the New And Improved Official TDE Media Gallery.  Revamped to include the latest buzz and flurry of activity surrounding this high profile project, the Gallery has been revamped to include new film clips, press and other goodies.  So head on over to catch up on the latest, including newly posted clips featuring the acting debut of... OK, we won't say it again (hint: read the previous news item).

2/10/2005:

AN HISTORIC ACTING DEBUT!

When the time came for TDE to shoot it's most ambitious scene to date - a party celebrating a ceremonial grant presentation at the mansion of the President of our fictitious Ivy League University, Writer/Director/Executive Producer Joe Fremont had only one person in mind - Ridgefield's First Selectman Rudy Marconi.  "I'd seen first hand what a masterful job Mr. Marconi's been doing for the town of Ridgefield, my home town.  He's 100% invested in the work - at any given moment he might be scrutinizing critical legal papers with one of the town's lawyers, keeping up with the progress of a construction hotspot on Route 35, tracking a police dispatch and submitting information for air on a vital town project to WLAD (800 AM -  the local Danbury radio station) - all at the same time.  I think if you look up the word "multitask" in the dictionary you'll see his picture.  How he can do all those things simultaneously, effectively and accurately is beyond me.  But he does it - trust me - I've seen it first hand.  So when it came time to find someone to step into the brief, but important role of Parker F. Yellen,  President of one the most prestigious universities in the country, I knew he'd be perfect for the role."  After a "few" phone calls, and some opportune lobbying through the press ("Ridgefield Magazine" and "The Danbury News-Times"), Mr. Marconi agreed to pitch in.  Which brings us to the question most of you are burning to know...

So!  How'd he do??

In a word?  Extremely well.  "Rudy hit it out of the park.  Plain and simple.  He was everything I hoped he'd be.  OK so it took him a few  <cough, cough>  takes to get there, but the result is indisputable.  He's our University President.  And I'm quite confident that when people see the scene, he's going to get some laughs.  In fact I'm keeping the dailies away from my friends in the business - I don't think our town can afford to lose him to Hollywood."

Want to see for yourself?  Check back soon to see a clip of Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi's acting debut at the TDE  Media Gallery.

1/28/2005:

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE NEWS??

The medical term would be triage.  Ok, we admit it, we haven't come close to maintaining this page the way TDE fans have grown accustomed over the past year and change.  And despite a plethora of good excuses (personnel changes, a growth rate that has surpassed our staff's ability to keep up, and the ever popular our goldfish ate our copy of Microsoft's FrontPage), we'll simply offer: "Our bad."  And our humble apologies...

SO WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST 3 1/2 months?

Shooting at wonderful locations in Ridgefield and New York City.  The (quite surprisingly successful) acting debut of a major town official.  Brilliant work by our incredibly talented cast.  Expanded coverage in the press.  And of course the continued support of a wonderful local community.  More on this in the coming weeks.

WHAT NEXT?

Look for new press coverage, new local shooting days, and the roll-out of our newly re-designed, enhanced Official TDE Media Gallery, featuring more stills, clips and yes, outtakes in the coming days.

Thanks for hanging in there with us.  We promise - it'll be well worth the wait!

10/18/2004:

SO MANY THANKS (part II)!

And now for that actual thank you portion of our news.  It's been said many times that the key to a successful "Indie" film is the indescribable hard work of those involved and the good will and benevolent efforts of the community in which the film is shot.  That's particularly true here and so TDE wishes to express heartfelt thanks to:

The Ridgefield Community Center in the Historic 1896 Lounsbury House

  • Lisa Carroll
  • Keith Hackett

The Keeler Tavern Museum

  • Rosemarie Morretta
  • Roger Keller

Ridgefield Magazine

  • Geoffrey James Morris, editor-in-chief
  • Bobbi Lane

...and all the residents of Main Street, Ridgefield who put up with those strangely intense lights emanating from across the street.  Special thanks to Michael and Ginny Butler for acting as our liaison to the neighborhood, and for their support of the arts in general.

Thanks for putting up with our impossibly frequent and no doubt inopportune phone calls.  And for helping make "Through Different Eyes" the special project it is.

Check back in the coming weeks to learn more about the special fabric that comprises this extraordinary town as the process of creating TDE continues.

10/14/2004:

SO MANY THANKS (part I)!

TDE wrapped a spectacular 3 day shoot this morning in stunning fashion.  There's so much to say, so many people to thank that we're going to need a bit of time to collect our thoughts before presenting them here.  "I'm speechless.  I've never been around a more dedicated, giving, determined group of people in my life.  The wonderful people here on location in Ridgefield.  My actors and crew.  I'm at a complete loss for words."  As TDE's "Jasmine Lo" (Sacha Iskra) put it, "Joe Fremont at a loss for words?  There's a first.  We must have been pretty OK".  Sorry Sacha - "OK" doesn't begin to describe it.

10/2/2004:

PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTINUES

TDE resumes production with its most ambitious endeavor yet - a two night all-encompassing night shoot that presents the cataclysmic moment for two of our main characters (OK, so they're all main characters - deal), as they move inexorably toward the film's riveting climax (we are talking about "Die Hard" here, yes?).  Shooting in the home town of one our very own Production types, there are so many exciting firsts we can't even begin to list them.  Suffice to say that all of us here at Team TDE are counting the minutes...

9/20/2004:

TDE HEADS HOME

Faced with a demanding production schedule and an intense desire to continue principal photography, TDE did what most everyone does in times of need.  They looked toward home for help.  And found it in spades.  More to come...

9/12/2004:

THE OFFICIAL TDE MEDIA GALLERY DEBUTS

As promised TEAM TDE is proud to announce the opening of the Official TDE Media Gallery.  Check here to catch up on the latest production footage and stills.  Our current clip is from a montage and features Sacha Iskra as "Jasmine", Roger Wu as "Raymond" and Joseph Schommer as Carey meeting up after studying at the library with surprising results.

9/8/2004:

TDE RESUMES PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY WITH REMARKABLE 4 DAY SHOOT!

TDE roared back into production with a record-breaking 4 day location shoot at a breathtaking Ivy League college location in the Northeast.  Check back often over the coming days to read about all the brilliant performances - from TDE's established favorites Xavier Santiago, Patrick Wang (in a new role) and Carolina Hoyos, to TDE's newest stars, Roger Wu, Sacha Iskra, and Joseph Schommer.  Meet TDE's newest friends - from Tammy Tunyavongs and Orville Matherson to Jessica Mann and Genna, Ryan and Caitlyn Gearity to Marshall and Renee Ivey to "The Murph! (we love The Murph!)".  Read interviews with the director, cast and production staff.  And finally browse exciting photos from the set and production clips.  All in all a dazzling and exciting collection of new material.  And we're just getting started...

8/14/2004:

SMALL BUSINESS GETS BEHIND TDE!

As anyone who's ever worked on a low (make that no) budget indie film can attest, the support and good will of small business is critical to success.  TDE is certainly no exception.  And so we'd like to take a brief moment to introduce you to two of the most generous, top-shelf merchants around.   One an old friend, the other a new one.

GLIDESHOT steps up again.

What more can we say about Mike Long and the people behind Glideshot?  Plenty, actually.  Besides making the best quality, meticulously constructed, reasonably priced dollies and track in the entire film industry, they are particularly supportive of independent film.  "We are once again privileged to announce that we will be using Glideshot equipment exclusively for all dolly shots used in the filming of "Through Different Eyes.  We're particularly looking forward to working with Glideshot's flagship GS5000 dolly platform."  Larger, with double the wheel coverage of the GS500 used previously, this product permits the DP to sit on the platform while shooting, enabling the camera operator and the camera to move as one.  "The GS500 was a dream - seamless, quiet, sturdy and lightweight - it felt like we were shooting on an air cushion.  In a project such as TDE it is crucial to keep the camera moving, resulting in some unusually long dolly shots.  With the GS5000 we'll be able to accomplish that without fatiguing the DP or the Dolly Grip.  Add the fact that Glideshot's track is perfectly consistent and we are free to focus solely on capturing the most compelling footage we can.  Simply put, Mike and the folks at Glideshot are a vitally important addition to an independent filmmaker's arsenal.  We have no doubt that Glideshot and it's products will hold on an important role in film production for many years to come." - Joe Fremont

The WHITE GOOSE INN welcomes Team TDE

A much overlooked part of prepping a film shoot is finding a place to stay for an extended period.  This is a tough nut for independent filmmakers working with little or no budget to house a multitude of people such as producers, actors and crew, each with their own unique set of requirements.  This time out TDE has been incredibly fortunate to meet up with Marshall and Renee Ivey, the Innkeepers at The White Goose Inn in Orford, New Hampshire.  TDE Producer Sandi Lucas, acting Unit Production Manager for TDE's upcoming shoot has been working practically round the clock accommodating the many varied demands of housing TDE and has found nothing but good spirits, top-notch care and special consideration.  Innkeeper Marshall Ivey pretty much summed it up, declaring "Sandi - I've talked to you more than my wife these past few days!"  Director Joe Fremont is thankful for TDE's good fortune: "Sandi's basically hit a home run here.  We are incredibly fortunate to be welcomed to the White Goose Inn.  In projects such as this, one usually envisions less than optimal conditions as the production allocates what little resources it has for production.  However, in this case, I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to stay no matter what the budget.  I mean, check out their website - this is a beautiful B&B run to perfection by Innkeepers Marshall and Renee.  To be able to bring my production to such wonderful, reasonably priced accommodations is way beyond all expectation.  To be able to come "home" to an atmosphere of wide planked floors, stenciled walls, antique and period furniture, to get what little sleep we can in spacious and well-appointed guest rooms with queen size beds, private baths and air conditioning after working 11 to 14 hours on set will be invaluable in assuring that we can start each day's grueling schedule with as much positive energy as possible."

8/12/2004:

TDE presents it's newest Associate Producers

TDE is extremely gratified and pleased to introduce its newest Associate Producers: Joseph M Carvalhido and Miriam Loren and David Sussman.  Cruise over to "The Talent" page in the upcoming days to meet TDE's most recent benefactors.

8/10/2004:

TDE Reclassified?

As in interest in TDE reaches new heights, the Production staff have contacted SAG with an eye towards securing "SAG Experimental" status.  We'll classify this as "in progress" and will post more as this develops.

8/06/2004:

YET MORE BREAKING NEWS:  TDE GETS INFUSION!!!

The production staff at "TDE" reached another milestone, securing its first third party investment since the project's inception late last year.  More to come...

7/21/2004:

BREAKING NEWS:  TDE FINALLY FINDS A HOME!!!

As is the case with most low-budget college kids coming of age films, having an actual college campus to shoot on is (with apologies to Martha Stewart) a good thing.  But who'd have known how difficult locking a location could be?

Well that's old news, as TDE is thrilled to announce that filming will resume shortly at a major  northeastern Ivy League campus.  Writer and Executive Producer Joe Fremont was uh, sort of pleased with the development.  "What can I say?  We've been in location hell for what seems like forever.  But it was all worth it.  I'm over the moon.  This is what I dreamed of when I wrote the script.  To me, it's the best of the Ivy's.  The best of the best.  To be able to shoot our film in that environment, to be in the midst of over two centuries of history and architecture, to place our characters in such a setting is basically my wildest dream come true.  I simply can't wait to get to work."  Ok, but Joe - how do you really feel?

7/06/2004:

KRISTY RESOLVED.

The search for Kristy is complete.  "This is a significant get for us.  We are bringing a powerful, intense, gifted actor to this difficult role.  I can't wait to see this character come to life on film".  That's all we can say for now, as we're still working out the details.  Rest assured we'll soon have a lot more to say about this exciting development, as we officially role out our "new" Kristy!

6/20/2004:

CAROLINE WHITE LEAVES THE CAST.

TDE bids farewell to its second cast member in a week as Caroline White leaves the cast to pursue other projects.  "I've said this before.  Caroline is an extremely talented, generous actor; we're totally going to miss her.  She's going to be a tremendous asset to whatever project she takes on.  In our business, especially in projects that take longer than anticipated, it is not uncommon to see turnover in the cast, especially with someone as gifted as Caroline.  I'm disappointed things didn't work out here.  And as with Jenn, I wish her nothing but unmitigated success in her upcoming projects and totally hope we get to work together in the future.

And so the search for "Kristy" is back on.  Check back soon for news...

6/14/2004:

JENNIFER LIU LEAVES THE CAST.

TDE reluctantly bids goodbye to Jennifer Liu ("Jasmine") who will be moving on to warmer climates as she relocates to the left coast over the coming months.  "We knew when we cast Jenn that she'd be making this move during the summer.  At the time, we figured we'd be well into post-production by the time July rolled around, so this didn't pose that much of an issue.  But, this being the movie business, we've been pushed back (and back, and...) and time is up.  "I'm very sad to lose Jenn.  She's an incredibly smart, gifted actress who not only brought great insight her character, but was a real asset to have on set.  She has great energy, totally knows movie-making, and was always willing to help out.  I know audiences would have been captivated by her "Jasmine".  She's going to be a real force out there.  I consider it a privilege to have spent what little time I could with her and wish her nothing but smashing success in whatever she does.  I seriously hope we get the chance to work together again in the future!" - Joe Fremont

SACHA ISKRA SIGNS ON AS "JASMINE"

As always - one door closing means another opens.  And so we're incredibly excited and fortunate to be introducing Sacha Iskra as our new "Jasmine".  Fresh off a sold-out run of "The Tempest" at the Looking Glass Theater, and looking forward to her debut in "Miss Saigon" at the  Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center this August, Sacha is scary talented.  Get to know her up close and personal on "The Players" page!

6/13/2004:

TDE'S HISTORIC FIRST SCENE PREMIERES!

It's been one tumultuous week here in TDE-land.  Tears of joy.  Tears of sadness.  Anticipation.  Frustration.  Melancholy.  Elation.  Gloom.  Look up "bi-polar" in Webster's and you'll most likely see the TDE logo somehwere.

On the plus side, we're overjoyed to present TDE's first ever scene clip, albeit two weeks late.   This scene features brilliant work by Carolina Hoyos ("Mireia") and Xavier Santiago ("Fabricio") as their character deal with some serious issues.  Joe Fremont wearing his screenwriter's hat was elated:  "Here's a real taste of what's to come.  These two have serious acting chops.  Throw in a dash of exceptional chemistry and you have every screenwriter's dream - a true to life representation of the characters I created."

6/06/2004:

TDE'S FIRST SCENE AND PRESS RELEASE SLIPS AGAIN.

Well, we've sort of slipped the release date for our first official scene clip and press release.  But, hey, what's one missed date in the movie business anyway, right?  OK, so maybe this isn't TDE's first one.  Maybe it's... well, never mind.  This time we absolutely PROMISE the clip will be released this Sunday, June 13.   And we absolutely guarantee it's well worth the wait (or your money back)!

As for the ch-ch-changes we've been pr-pr-promising, we'll be saving them for later this week as well.  Here's some hints:  there's some exciting new developments with the cast, both comings and goings.  And if the fates are kind, we'll have incredibly exciting news concerning TDE's major location shoots.  So, if anyone out there has an "in" with the fates...

5/30/2004:

TDE'S HISTORIC FIRST SCENE PREMIERES June 5!!   CHANGES TO BE ANNOUNCED JUNE 3!

What was that old saying...  "Nothing good comes easy".  Or was it "Good things come to those who wait".  "Feed a cold, starve a fever"?  How about... well... you get the idea.  Shooting has bogged down as we endeavor to secure locations.  Yet despite that, big things are happening here at "Team TDE".  We will be premiering our first production scene clip in approximately 114 hours (that's 8PM, June 5 for you normal folks).  We think you'll find its well worth the wait. As a matter of fact, it's fantastic!  (Biased?  Us??)  And shortly thereafter FreeLui Productions will be posting its most significant press release of 2004.  We're talking about groundbreaking news that will shake "TDE" to its very core.  And while we are full of excitement and anticipation about our new direction, we're also quite sad at the same time.  Confused?  Visit us on June 3rd and you won't be...

3/13/2004:

"TDE" enters into association with Glideshot Industries

FreeLui Productions has successfully concluded discussions to use Glideshot Industries amazing new GS product series for all dolly shots in "TDE".  Co-Executive Producer and Director Joe Fremont is quite excited about the deal. "The people over at Glideshot are top notch.  We looked at a bunch of alternatives before entering into negotiations with them and we couldn't be more excited with the results.  Glideshot is that rare combination of dedication, talent, ingenuity and perseverance so essential for success in our industry.  Their products look great on paper - we can't wait to put them through their paces."  "TDE" will be using the "GS500" dolly and "ST15" track on location in a few weeks, so check back soon for the full report and location pictures.

2/15/2004:

PRODUCTION RESUMES

Welcome to our first news story in roughly two months.  Not the most wonderful 57 days we've ever experienced, but things are looking up as we emerge from Winter, uh, hiatus stronger, dedicated and more determined than ever!

To that end, we've resumed production with our first location shoot.  And though we had our share (OK, more than our share) of difficulties (don't ask), things are looking up.  We've added a new Producer and are working on a blockbuster development.  More on that in the coming days.

12/20/2003:

PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY!!!

And so "TDE" finally moves one step closer to reality with the kick off of principal photography.  The records will show that Matt Shattuck and Jennifer Liu were the first actors on camera, and the first word was, appropriately, "Look".  We hope everyone will.  Soon...

12/07/2003:

SNOW PROBLEM!

The first official meeting of the entire cast came off without a hitch despite Mother Nature's best efforts to the contrary.  Writer, director Joe Fremont opined "I was for the most part quite pleased with the table read.  I mean it's quite early on in the process and we all have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, but I'm as confident as ever we've got something very special on our hands.  Either that or a serious case of indigestion."

12/06/2003:

SAY IT AIN'T SNOW!

As usual, nothing "TDE" goes according to plan.  After weeks of prep, Team "TDE" was to have conducted the first official rehearsal of the entire script today.  However, Mother Nature had other ideas (think she read the script?), heaping 14-20" of snow on us.  We knew we should have moved the production to the left coast.   Course, knowing us, we'd all be writing about the "Big One" of 2K3". Stay tuned...

11/23/2003:

"THROUGH DIFFERENT EYES" CAST IS COMPLETE!!  PRE-PRODUCTION IS UNDERWAY!!!

The cast of our "little project that could" was finally completed today with the casting of Caroline White as "Kristy Bosch".  And, as always, the closing of one chapter begets the opening of another, and so "TDE" beings pre-production in earnest.

11/18/2003:

MEET THE CAST!!!

Most of them anyway.  Presented on our "The Players" page, for the first time anywhere, are the first glimpses of the incredibly talented actors behind the characters of "Through Different Eyes".  And, as an added bonus, read Writer, Director Joe Fremont's candid reflections on the brilliant young  thespians charged with the considerable task of bringing life to the extraordinarily rich and complex characters that comprise the very fabric of this project.

11/17/2003:

FIVE DOWN, TWO TO GO!!

We've now cast Carey, Jasmine, Fabricio, Tamela and Denise.  We're in final negotiations with our choice to play Raymond, and down to the final two players for the role of Kristy.  So we're basically on pins and needles - never a dull moment here in "TDE" land.

11/13/2003:

SITE MAINTENANCE COMPLETE!  FOUR DOWN, THREE TO GO!!

Booyeah!  We're up on our big bad brand new Windows 2000 Server.  Ripping performance.  Enhanced content.  All the bells and whistles.  Ok, so it's mostly transparent to you guys, but watch out in the coming months...

Unfortunately we can't offer any more details on the four newly cast actors.  But we promise they're well worth the wait.  We look to have pix and bios up by the beginning of next week!

BUBBLING UNDER THE SURFACE NEWS:  TDE is totally jazzed about an exciting new casting development.  While it would mean yet another rewrite and yet another name change <hint, hint> for one of our characters, we are thrilled at the prospect at what we consider to be a significant new and upcoming talent joining "our little project that could".  Check back here often as we are still putting the finishing touches on this, but we promise, this will be awesome!!

11/10/2003:

CASTING ROUND 2 COMPLETE!  THREE MAJOR CHARACTERS CAST!!

TDE's second round of casting is in the books.  We were treated to outstanding performances, big surprises, but mostly to incredibly talented, dedicated, invested actors.  The only blemish being a sudden loss of two hours in time slots, and an unplanned for (by us anyway) closing of 7th Avenue due to the annual (we said unplanned for by us, OK?) street festival.

So what did we learn boys and girls?  That we are elated to have cast four of our seven major characters (we'll give you more as soon as we get the OK from Legal).  And that we will have one final round of callbacks (more callbacks??) for the other three major characters.  Which characters are which???  Stay tuned...

11/10/2003:

SITE MAINTENANCE BEGINS TODAY!

TDEMOVIE.COM is getting bigger, faster, and basically more powerful.  In order to bring you guys our new enhanced site we are moving to a new server.  This means scattered outages and overall unpredictability for the next few days.  So, please, bear with us...

11/02/2003:

CASTING ROUND 2.

OK, we admit it.  We wanted to post a pithy roundup of the first official TDE audition sessions, replete with witty anecdotes, tearful discourses, and well, you get the idea.  But, as usual, we're swamped with work, knee deep in audition tapes.  And so we decided to dedicate our total focus toward compiling the best cast we possibly can.

That said, we must send along our heartfelt thanks and admiration to all those that came down and shared their experiences and talents with us.  We are totally privileged to have been able to meet so many motivated, talented, fascinating  people.   And regardless of how your experience with TDE turns out, we have no doubt you guys are off to fine and rewarding careers in the Arts.

Onward!  We expect to complete callbacks by Tuesday evening of this week.  That is if we have any staff left to review the footage...

10/26/2003:

PENCILS DOWN!

The first round of auditions are complete.  Over 50 actors graced the fabulous facility that is the International Ballet Center at Carnegie Hall this weekend.  More to come...

10/22/2003:

AUDITIONS!

The first round of auditions will be held this weekend - those of you that have been selected to read will be notified by e-mail.  While most of our candidates have been contacted for phone screens, some have not, so, please, hang in there - we will get to you.  And for those of you not coming in this time around - thanks again for taking the time to check us out.  We got you on file and will not hesitate to contact for any of our upcoming projects that we feel you might be right for.  Good Luck All!

10/12/2003:

PROGRESS!  We've contacted most (but not all) of our prospective Jasmines and Kristys.  We are well into our Careys, Tamelas, Raymonds and Fabricios.  All things considered, we hope have round 1 of our casting process completed by Sunday of this week (or is that considered next week?), with our first group coming in to read the following weekend.  Emphasis on "hope"!

NON-CASTING RELATED PROGRESS!  We finally got to put our principal camera (the Panny AG-DVX100 of course) though it's paces.  Totally impressive.  The vibrant colors, the sharply-defined, film-like quality of it's 24P images.  Amazing!  We'll be looking to capture some compelling fall footage for some of TDE's establishing shots in the coming weeks.  Looks like given proper care and composition, TDE's in wonderful hands.  Now if we could only find the record button...

10/08/2003:

Our first non-casting news in almost a month.  One of our major characters has undergone a name change!  Tamika Bradley is now Tamela Bradley.  Well she always was Tamela Bradley - we just didn't know it.  However, after a fortuitous phone call from someone we can best describe as a concerned family member (or her fairy godmother), we stand corrected.  And here's our most sincere apologies to Tamik.. er uh Tamela!

As for casting, most (but not all!) of our Jasmines and Kristys have been contacted.  We're currently finalizing our Careys, Tamelas, Fabricios and Raymonds, so please bear with us.  Hopefully we'll have most of it done by the end of the week.

10/05/2003:

ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL!

Happy October all!  This promises to be our most exciting Fall ever!  Our tireless Casting folks have pretty much completed reviewing almost all of your fabulous submissions and are deep into the process of determining (with our Co-Execs) the list of phone screens for each of our six major characters.  We are farthest along with our Jasmines and Kristys (not done yet, though), and hope to have compiled our final lists for all characters by the weekend, with e-mail invites completed by mid-week.

Thanks again (again?!?)  to all of you for your enthusiasm.  What a wonderful group you are!  Maybe we should shoot 6 versions of TDE with different casts and... well, er, uh, OK, maybe not.  Anyway, here's hoping those of you we have the privilege to meet in the coming weeks find this project all you want it to be.

9/30/2003:

CASTING UPDATE REV 3.0:

And the search continues...  As Fall moves inexorably towards Winter, we continue to receive stacks of incredibly remarkable submissions.  To date we've received over 500 entries for our 6 humble characters.  And so once again, here's our most humble thanks, (OK, this is getting monotonous!) and admiration for a community of actors that is as gifted as it is diverse.

That said please keep the following in mind when deciding whether or not to submit for our project:

  • Minors will not be considered for this project.  Actors must be over 18 to apply for any of the 6 major characters being cast.
  • Resume / Headshots (or web-links to resumes / headshots) are required.  Unfortunately, we simply do not have the time, nor the resources to do it any other way.
  • We cannot respond individually to all submissions.  We, again, promise to carefully consider each entry, but we do not have the resources to respond to every entry we receive.

It has come to our attention that the Casting inbox has become "full" at times, resulting in rejected submissions.  If this happens to you, please wait a while and try again.  Our beleaguered Casting Crew are doing their best, but simply cannot keep up with the volume.   But no worry - they do get to everything.  Eventually.  Though most of them haven't seen their family in a week.

9/29/2003:

CASTING UPDATE REV 2.0:

Phone screens are underway!  We've kicked off the first batch of telephone interviews.  So, while we are still receiving (and reviewing) excellent submissions for all of our characters, we are moving forward with plans to schedule auditions as soon as possible.  At this point all phone screens will be conducted by one of our co-exec's, however this may change as the week progresses (or fails to...).

9/27/2003:

CASTING UPDATE:

PROGRESS!  Phone interviews will be underway quite soon - possibly as early as today.  And while we can no longer promise to respond individually to all submissions, we are absolutely guaranteeing that each submission is being carefully reviewed and considered.

9/25/2003:

IMPORTANT CASTING NOTE:

Straight up?  We're overwhelmed!  As it seems with everything TDE these days, the response to our casting notices have been incredible, unbelievable, mind-boggling, and, well, far, far greater than we anticipated.  We're simply swamped with submissions from an extraordinarily diverse group of remarkable actors.  And so while it was our plan, and most fervent hope, to respond to everyone individually, we are simply unable to do so (we actually spotted one of our casting experts heaving their Thinkpad out a window - thank goodness she was in the basement at the time!).

So - please - accept our heartfelt thanks in advance (see item of 9/24) for your interest in TDE.  Candidates under consideration for phone interviews will be contacted within 7 working days of submission.  For all those that we miss this time around - accept our heartfelt gratitude for your interest and our best wishes for whatever comes your way in the future.

9/24/2003:

CASTING IS UNDERWAY!

A special note of thanks (THANKS!) to all those who have taken the time to request to be involved in our project.  We are touched, heartened and gratified with the remarkable enthusiasm our project continues to generate.  Especially since (a) we have no chase scenes (2) no one gets shot, killed or otherwise maimed (well maybe almost maimed) and (iii) we have no tawdry, gratuitous sex scenes.  We just have real characters dealing with real problems, conflicts and crises.

As for the casting process itself - who would have thought that there are so many incredibly talented individuals out there?  Thanks to all of you for your interest (and kind words!).  We're carefully going over all submissions and will be paring down to a workable group to be invited to read shortly.  Updates to follow...

9/17/2003:

TDE CASTS TWO CHARACTERS!!!  Check out "The Players" for details!

9/15/2003:

Summertime?  Did someone mention Summertime?  OK, it's still friggin' hot.  It still rains most every day.  Yet there's like the mother of all hurricanes hanging out just off the coast of South Carolina, there's leaves all over the place,  and nobody's wearing white anymore.  This can mean only one thing -- we're fashion challenged.  Where DOES the time go, for crying out loud?!?  Anywho, we'll be ramping up our casting efforts in the coming weeks.  Check out our ad in Backstage, or on the various boards.  It's time to put real people behind these characters, time to get the show on the road, kick the wheels and... well...  you get the idea.  Looks like we'll be doing reads during the 2nd or 3rd week of October, with principal photography to begin soon thereafter.  That is unless a certain hurricane decides to drop in and bounce us all back to Kansas  (golden classic movie reference)...

7/08/2003:

Summertime's here.  Warm enough for y'all?  Nothing like T.H.I.'s in excess of 110 to make you miss Winter.  Speaking of...  yeah it's been a while since.  But, appearances to the contrary, our creative team has been busy here at TDE.  And not just creating the stunningly provocative TDE 2K3 hats.  The script's undergone some serious changes - it seems after uncovering some irregularities in Padma's transcripts, she's forsaken her Senior year here in the States for some serious study back in India.  Still, we're all betting we'll be seeing her again before it's all said and done.  Anyway, our (and Fabricio's) loss is yours (and Fabricio's) gain.  We'll soon be introducing our most exciting new character - Tamika Bradley.  Check out the Characters page to meet the latest member of the TDE family.  And that's just the beginning.  With the start of principal photography just months away, we promise there's gonna be some serious sh..., um, stuff  going on.

2/03/2003:

What a friggin' winter in the Northeast!  Snow.  Daily Winter Storm warnings.  Temperatures below zero.   More snow.  But no matter how cold it is, things have been hot, hot, hot here at TDE.  Look for Carey's, Raymond's and Kristy's college interviews in the coming days.  And big casting news by months end!

1/01/2003:

Happy 2003 all!!   2003 - The Year of TDE!!  A year of promise.  Turbulence.  Recovery.  Dreams.  Spectacular Glory.  Crushing Defeat.  Or in other words, just another typical year for us carbon based life forms...

11/30/2002:

Yep, Jasmine's back.  At least her interview is.  Amazingly enough, we were able to recover the lost dialogue in a manner of minutes.  TDE time that is.  Click on Jasmine's name on the "The Characters" page to eavesdrop on her college entrance interview and catch a glimpse of just what makes her so special.

11/28/2002:

Just a quick note from all of us here at "Through Different Eyes"®.  It's been a turbulent year for all of us - one of loss and healing, accomplishment and hope, and wonder.  And so here's a quick moment to say thanks for what we have, and thanks for what's to come.  And to wish all of you and yours the best holiday season ever!

11/05/2002:

Ok, so we finally got around to transcribing the first of our the college interviews!  Never have so many waited for so little.  Click on Jasmine's name on "The Characters" page to read a condensed version of her college entrance interview, and learn a little more about just what makes her so special.

10/15/2002:

We finally got around to updating "The Talent".  We're all there.  Well, almost...

10/03/2002:

It's a wonderful, crazy (movie title?) busy time here at tdemovie.com.  We've added folks to "The Talent".  We spruced up our site with pictures from our location scouts.  And, oh yeah, casting continues.  Who'd have thought there are so many talented, exciting people out there?  Right, we did.  Check out "The Talent" for the latest from the casting front...

9/17/2002:

The Interviews Are Coming!
Long since thought lost, our ever vigilant TDE staff has uncovered interview tapes made by each of our characters just before embarking on their respective college careers (about 3 years before the start of our movie).  They'll be posted as soon as we can transcribe them - which,  knowing our crack staff should be shortly.  We hope.

9/04/2002:

Casting is underway.  Check "The Players" page to see who's playing who.

8/31/2002:

The talent files are up.  Click on "The Talent" to learn more than you want to know about the people behind the curtain.

8/30/2002:

The character dossiers are up.  Check out "The Characters" page.  You may just know some of them.  Or all of them.

8/15/2002:

www.tdemovie.com goes live!   And an eager world celebrates.   Or yawns.   Definitely one of the two...
