Kristy, a brilliant undergraduate college senior at one of our nation's most respected universities, is in hospital having been the victim of sexual assault. She is visited by her mom, a hyper-successful professional with a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton and a J.D. from Harvard. This scene explores their relationship, and the problems that have underpinned it since childhood, illuminating critical elements of Kristy's backstory.
